Labour migration and the systems of social protection: Country report Sweden
Miguel Benito analyses the impact of economic crisis on migration development in Sweden since 2008. As the Swedish Government adopted new migration law in 2008, living conditions of both, refugees and labor migrants have changed significantly and the author argues that the level of migrants' vulnerability has increased. Nevertheless, in some aspects Sweden keeps its liberal migration and integration policies, enabling migrants to vote in the municipal and regional elections or to study Swedish language for free.
