This theoretical article examines the social and cultural aspects of migration. The author gradually categorizes the broadly defined concept of integration from the perspective of various socio-anthropological theoretical approaches. Having taken into account the general principles, the author covers specific mechanisms of integration, trying to determine the manner in which the process of integration actually occurs. He also examines the attitudes and strategies of the society admitting foreigners and of the foreigners trying to integrate into this society.
