The main objective of the Multicultural Center’s ”Media and minorities: the media image of foreigners and ethnic and national minorities in the Czech Republic“ was to help improve the quality of intercultural coexistence in the Czech Republic and facilitate integration of foreigners, ethnic and national minorities into the majority society through critically reviewing the current image of minorities in the media and providing broad support to realistic media coverage of minorities.
The “Media and minorities” project included public debates, teacher training courses, seminars for journalists and students of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University in Prague and also an international seminar for librarians. Outcomes of the project are summarized in the Czech-English booklet “Hard to Make out Foreigners.” The project was in part funded by the European Union.
