This study explores evidence of forced labour among new migrants to Northern Ireland in a range of employment sectors. It examines issues of severe exploitation and forced labour, including poor working conditions, low pay, restricted movements and verbal and physical abuse. It studies migrants working in the fishing, mushroom and catering industries, as well as Filipino and Romanian Roma migrants. Finally, it highlights the links between vulnerability and a lack of English language skills, limited access to social networks and a lack of local knowledge.
