Asylum policy at a crossroads
A critical article written by Martin Rozumek, the director of the Organization for Aid to Refugees. The author examines the latest developments in the United Kingdom’s asylum policies and compares the situation there with that in the Czech Republic. The article makes it clear that harmonization of EU’s asylum policies essentially lies in taking over the lowest standards of refugee admission by the individual member states. The author therefore recommends broadening the alternative ways to enter the Czech Republic, in particular through programs favoring enterprising and skilled workers.
